Bone broths are deeply nourishing and soothing to the digestive tract and a great way to build blood, tonify and nourish the kidneys in cold winter months.

Basic recipe and add meat of choice or no meat at all.

  • 1 pound free range/organic/grass fed/wild; chicken, beef, or fish
  • 10 cups of water
  • Small handful of bay leaves
  • 2 inches of fresh ginger
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp cardamom pods
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 2 tsp cinnamon bark
  • 2 tsp fresh turmeric
  • 1 tsp pepper corns
  • Left over vegetables from fridge can gather during the week (carrot tops, celery, cauliflower, leeks, zucchini, dark mustard greens etc.) can be collected in a bowl in the fridge and added in!
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

If you are vegan or a vegetarian you can skip the meat and make a nourishing broth to your desired taste, adding a teaspoon of coconut oil can make it more rich and soothing.

My favorite way of cooking it is in a crock pot.

Enjoy the nourishment.
